AVO

An Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) is an order made by the court that prohibits a defendant from certain behaviour, such as harassment, stalking, intimidation, violence or the threat of violence. AVOs provide protection from this behaviour in the future by prohibiting a person from going within a certain distance of the person filing the complaint.

Other Types of AVOs

Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO) describes violence taken against a family member, including a spouse, ex-spouse or intimate partner (including de facto relationships)

Apprehended Personal Violence Order (APVO) describes violence for protection from someone other than family members.

How to Respond to an AVO Charge

We can help you object to an AVO against you by having the matter adjourned for trial at a later date. Under these circumstances, an interim AVO will be issued until the trial date.

Criminal Law

Charges for breaking criminal law can incur major penalties. If you or someone you love faces such charges, don’t hesitate to contact our professional lawyer.

We can assist in representing charges of assault, driving offence, violence (including domestic violence offences), drug offences, firearm or dangerous weapon offences, murder or manslaughter, perjury, robbery, theft, fraud and sexual offences.
